New Kennett Square Restaurant Opus Pairs Dining, Art, and Community Impact

A new restaurant opening in Kennett Square this September is designed to do more than put dinner on the table.

Opus, a new hospitality venture from Square Roots Collective, will officially open to the public Friday, Sept. 11, at 201 Birch Street. Before the first dinner service, the community is invited to get a look inside during a ribbon cutting and community open house Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m.

The restaurant will feature New American cuisine, cocktails, local culinary talent and an art-filled setting. But its most unusual feature may be its business model: 100% of its profits will go back to the community.

For Stephanie Almanza, co-CEO of Square Roots Collective, Opus is the next step in an effort that has been taking shape in Kennett Square for years.

“For the past ten years, we have loved hosting the community at The Creamery of Kennett Square as a casual, family-friendly option. Now, we’re looking forward to adding Opus as a new elevated dining restaurant in our town, where our neighbors can engage their curiosity through art and connect with each other in the way our community uniquely does. We hope Opus becomes a go-to spot where people celebrate special occasions, and they call it their own,” Almanza said.
